France Loosens Cannabis Laws and Cafes Now Offer Low-THC Marijuana
With all the talk of marijuana legalization here in the United States and Canada, let’s not ignore our allies across the pond. France passed laws recently that permitted shops or cafes to start selling low-THC cannabis and the first ones opened their doors a week back.
The marijuana sold in Paris originates from hemp grown in Switzerland but is not only pure CBD. It consists of traces of THC but consumers are being alerted not to smoke the flower they purchase. It is far from complete spectrum high-THC flower that a person would discover in dispensaries in Las Vegas or in Aspen, however it is cannabis and it is moving our pals in France a little closer to anadult-use cannabis market. Joaquim Lousquy, 29, the owner of’Cofyshop’in the hip 11th arrondissement, stated: “There’s no psychotropic impact. It isn’t a medication or a relaxant. I would not encourage anyone to smoke cannabis. We sell it like other product, much like a furnishings shop sells tables or chairs.”Marc, 21, queuing outside the shop, stated:” I want to find out if the things they’re offering gets you stoned. In theory, it has less than
0.2 per cent THC, however I’ve heard it includes more CBD [cannabidiol, a legal cannabinoid] and that need to have an impact, at least to make you feel unwinded.”Stéphane Bélaiche, owner of E-Klop, a comparable store in Puteaux, a west Paris suburban area, said:”I do not sell CBD products so they
can be smoked in a joint, however so that individuals can find another flavour to delight in. “The French Health Authority has ruled that” no healing benefit might be claimed by the makers or suppliers or any
item including CBD.”Dan Véléa, a psychiatrist specialising in dependency, told the news website 20 Minutes that there was a risk that”
CBD will function as a ‘entrance’item for new users” who might progress to prohibited, high-strength cannabis. Maxine, 35, an advertising copywriter, stated she was purchasing cannabis for her aunt.” She has arthritis and this a natural treatment that she can aim to alleviate the discomfort, but yes, I’ll attempt it myself too, of course, more from interest than anything else. “France is not a long train flight from Amsterdam and it is unlikely that it is that challenging for people thinking about cannabis to find it while in France.
